Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12).

How is the power that Jesus talked about in John 14:12 released? How will we access that power to carry out the Great Commission Jesus gave us 2,000 years ago?

J.D. Greear, pastor of The Summit Church in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, has explored these questions firsthand as The Summit Church has created a sending culture. Under Greear’s leadership, The Summit has pursued church multiplication, sending out more than 550 people to live on church-planting teams, both domestically and internationally.

In this video excerpt, Greear challenges churches that are measuring and valuing seating capacity over sending capacity and then amplifies what the Book of Acts shows us about the future of the Great Commission.

J.D. Greear is the lead pastor of The Summit Church, in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina and author of multiple books, including his award-winning work, Gaining by Losing: Why the Future Belongs to Churches That Send. Under his leadership, The Summit has grown from a plateaued church of 300 to one of nearly 9,000. Greear has also led The Summit to further the Kingdom of God by pursuing a bold vision to plant 1,000 new churches by the year 2050.
