If you’ve seen anything about the metaverse, you know that there are dark places. Virtual reality is filled with places of sin or addiction. We’ve seen firsthand the issues that can transpire in the metaverse. As the church, though, this doesn’t mean we run from these areas. It means we run towards these areas, regardless of the risk. As Jonah was sent to Nineveh… as Paul was sent to Rome… some of us are being sent into the metaverse.
Enter Mindy Caliguire into the conversation. As co-founder of Soul Care, a spiritual formation ministry that exists to increase “soul health” in the body of Christ, Mindy regularly deals with the mental and spiritual aspects of people within the church. Well, what about churches in the metaverse?
Are we right in sending people into the metaverse mission field, where they could be exposed to sin and addictions? How should we, the Church, prepare our metaverse missionaries? What challenges would a church operating in the metaverse face? Is it healthy to attend church in the metaverse? These are just some of the questions we’re going to dig into as we explore mental health and the metaverse.
Explore and understand the future of the metaverse church. We’ll examine aspects of the meta mission field, the Church in the metaverse, even what discipleship and multiplication can look like in the metaverse. Through the interviews hosted on Metaverse Church NEXT we’ll address the technical, theological, and tactical approaches that churches are wrestling with today in virtual reality, augmented reality, and even innovation in general. Metaverse Church NEXT broadcasts Wednesday, 12:30 p.m. Eastern.
