The power to create a movement already exists inside each of us. Multiplication is not reserved for the extraordinary – it’s embedded in the spiritual DNA of every Jesus follower. A Multiplier is defined as a “healthy disciple-making leader who champions reproduction.” Each word in this definition is chosen intentionally. “Healthy” ensures the fruit being multiplied is good. “Disciple-making” is the fundamental task. “Leader” refers to leveraging influence intentionally. And “who champions reproduction” means someone who wants to make a lasting impact.

Ephesians 3:20 – “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”
Relational Gauge – The first internal gauge that we must routinely check is the Relational Gauge. Leadership can be lonely, but it shouldn’t be isolating. The Relational Gauge measures the strength of our closest relationships – family, friends, teammates, mentors. Relationally healthy leaders make the best Multipliers.
Proverbs 13:20 – “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”
Making Disciple Makers – The first external practice is to Make Disciple Makers. It is a foundational push on the flywheel of movement. Movements begin with people, not platforms. Multipliers prioritize making disciples who make other disciples.
Matthew 28:19-20 – “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations… teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
Physical Gauge – The second internal gauge that we must routinely check is the Physical Gauge. Multipliers are not just spiritual beings – they’re embodied people whose physical health directly affects ministry capacity. Leaders need to develop sustainable rhythms of rest, exercise, nutrition, and margin.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you…? Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”
Establishing Spiritual Communities – The second external practice is to Establish Spiritual Communities. Disciple-making thrives best in spiritual communities that function like extended families. These communities – small groups and missional communities – become the laboratories of formation and the launch pads for mission.
Acts 2:42 – “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
Mental Gauge – The third internal gauge that we must routinely check is the Mental Gauge. The importance of emotional honesty and mental resilience is critical for leaders. Multipliers need clarity, calm, and courage – all of which are fostered through mental and emotional health.
Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Mobilizing New Leaders – The third external practice is to Mobilize New Leaders. Multiplication stalls when leaders fail to reproduce other leaders. Multipliers identify potential, invest intentionally, and release authority.
2 Timothy 2:2 – “And the things you have heard me say… entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”
Spiritual Gauge – The fourth internal gauge we must routinely check is the Spiritual Gauge. Spiritual well-being is the core of the Multipliers life. No leader can produce Kingdom fruit without deep connection to Jesus.
John 15:5 – “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.”
Launching Church Expressions – The fourth external practice is to Launch Church Expressions. Churches, not just individuals, must multiply. This will require the launching of many new church expressions – micro, mega, digital, and more.
Acts 1:8 – “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses… to the ends of the earth.”
Multipliers – The challenge is to become a Multiplier – a healthy disciple-making leader who champions reproduction. This isn’t about doing more yourself, it’s about intentionally leading a life that others want to reproduce and showing them how to do it.
John 15:8 – “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”
Jesus said, “The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher” (Luke 6:40). You will reproduce something. The question is, what?
Let’s commit to becoming people who are worth multiplying. Let’s build churches that multiply disciples, leaders, churches, and networks. Let’s partner with God in his mission to see his kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.
Because in the end, you reproduce who you are and what you do.
