Session 1 – Empowered Heart

The movement begins when we discover what it takes to have an empowered heart. Although “the heart is desperately wicked,” the good news is that we can “be filled by the Spirit,” and we can reclaim His power and presence in our lives. We look for ways to get outside of our comfort zones and reach for new opportunities to learn and grow; to seek out where God is at work and ask him how we can join in that mission; to recommit to silence and solitude before God. We embrace a posture of prayer and fasting to live in communion with the Spirit.

Todd Proctor: Todd serves on the Executive Leadership Team of Alpha USA, helping pastors of key churches across the nation explore the Alpha course within their own context. He was a founder and long-time Lead Pastor of Rock Harbor in Costa Mesa, leading through a season of multiplication that birthed many new campuses and church plants across Orange County.

Todd is passionate about investing in young leaders, and curating experiences and conversations for pastors that foster greater church unity. In recent years he has led in pioneering The Way, a multi-church gathering focused apprenticeship to Jesus, and One Table, creating space for senior leaders to break bread and grow together in Kingdom friendship. Todd and his wife Lisa also serve on the pioneering team of Canopy, a house-church based community in his home turf of Newport Mesa in Orange County.

Oscar Leiva: Born in El Salvador and raised in an economically challenged neighborhood in Chicagoland. Oscar found strength and joy through Jesus Christ in a local church family in 1994. Oscar attended Moody Bible Institute and received his Masters of Divinity from Moody Graduate School. He has planted two congregations in the past ten years. Ministering in Chicago for the past 19 years, God has called Oscar and Megan, his wife of 20 years, and their three adopted children Obed, Judah and Ezra to build a gospel-centered, multi-ethnic, reformed church in Pilsen with Holy Trinity Church. Oscar serves on the board of Neopolis, a global church planting initiative. He also serves as the City to City Lead Catalyst for the Midwest region. He is presently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School focusing on missional gospel-ecosystems in global cities.

Session 2 – Empowered Life

Allowing the Spirit to have an impact in our lives is not meant to be a one-time event but an ongoing occurrence in the life of every believer. Galatians 5:25 says: “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” God is calling us to live an empowered life in which we discover how to keep in step with the Spirit. To do so, we must recapture the power of prayer and other personal disciplines that are essential for moving with Spirit-led expectations.

Alex Absalom: As a strategic speaker, coach and leader, Alex Absalom has served alongside his wife Hannah in church leadership in a wide range of settings, from plants to megachurches. Together they co-founded Dandelion Resourcing, which coaches leaders who want to equip people to go and make disciple-makers in naturally supernatural ways. Their online Naturally Supernatural Cohorts are a hugely popular resource, as are the short and practical books they are writing as part of the Naturally Supernatural series. Currently the Absalom family are planting a network of home churches out of Long Beach, CA. Originally from England, Alex and Hannah have three cheeky but charming sons, all of whom he discipled to become passionate fans of Liverpool Football Club!

Hannah Absalom: Hannah has been in church leadership for 25 years, working alongside her husband Alex in a wide variety of contexts. She is committed to investing in Millennials, raising up women leaders, and helping families live as missionaries in their neighborhoods, schools and workplaces. Originally from England, Hannah loves living in the United States, and (mostly) enjoys the adventure of raising their three teenage/young adult sons.

Dave Clayton: Dave is a follower of Jesus, husband to Sydney, and dad to three awesome boys. He is the founding pastor of Ethos Church, a young, urban church plant located in the heart of Nashville, TN, and the founder and visionary of Onward Church Planting and Awaken Nashville. Dave is passionate about making disciples, planting churches, and joining Jesus in awakening a movement in North America and beyond.

Session 3 – Empowered Culture

Church leaders have the unique opportunity to build an empowered culture in the church they lead by creating an expectancy and dependency on the Holy Spirit. This requires a willingness to ask for, depend on and listen to his leading during quiet time, prayer, teaching, and gatherings. It means allowing people to wrestle with their questions and doubts, and letting the Spirit speak to the heart in their search for answers.

Craig Springer: Craig Springer is the Executive Director of Alpha USA, a program that runs in more than 6,000 churches across every major denomination and 500 prisons throughout the country. Alpha mobilizes over 50,000 volunteers and nearly 365,000 participants annually in the U.S. and more than 1.3 million globally. Alpha is a simple idea of a great meal, a short talk and a meaningful discussion about life and faith over ten weeks. It is for people with questions, frustrations and serious doubts about spirituality, the Church, the direction of their lives or anything in between. The key to Alpha is listening; it’s a judgment-free space where any point of view is respected, no one gets corrected and people can explore their thoughts together.

Albert Tate: Albert is the founding pastor of Fellowship Church — one of the fastest-growing multiethnic churches in the United States. He began in ministry pastoring just a few families at Sweet Home Church in Mississippi before serving the historic Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena, CA. Hearing the call from God to plant a church, Albert and his wife LaRosa, launched Fellowship Monrovia in January 2012. In its short history, this gospel-centered, multiethnic, intergenerational church has already established a solid foothold in the region for life transformation to the glory and honor of Christ.

Session 4 – Empowered Movement

The brokenness and disorientation of this cultural moment is the greatest evangelistic opportunity of our lifetime. As leaders continually shape a culture that is dependent on the Holy Spirit, an empowered movement will begin to take place. Churches will join forces to ask for an awakening and revival in our communities, cities, nation, and world. It is then that we will see a move of the Spirit like we read about in Acts 2.

Pete Scazzero: After leading New Life Fellowship Church for 26 years, co-founded Emotionally Healthy Discipleship, a groundbreaking ministry that moves the church forward by slowing the church down in order to multiply deeply changed leaders and disciples. Pete hosts the top-ranked Emotionally Healthy Leader podcast and is the author of a number of bestselling books, including The Emotionally Healthy Leader and Emotionally Healthy Spirituality. Pete and his wife Geri also developed The Emotionally Healthy Discipleship Course (Part 1 and 2), a powerful resource that moves people from a shallow to a deep relationship with Jesus.

Rob Wegner: Rob served as a teaching pastor at Granger Community Church in Granger, Indiana, for 21 years, and four years at Westside Family Church in Kansas City. Currently he is planting the Kansas City Underground, a decentralized network of reproducing disciples, microchurches and collective congregations of those microchurches. The forty-year vision is 21,000 microchurches — a missionary on every street and a microchurch in every network of relationships —saturating Kansas City with the Gospel. Rob also serves on the leadership team of NewThing and the executive team of Disciples Made. His latest book, Find Your Place (Exponential Series, Zondervan) is a tool to help every person discover their personal calling.
