Purpose

Trellis is a network of missionaries and micro-churches that exists to see gospel saturation in all 34 counties of East Tennessee.

Project Categories

  • Collaborative Methods for Increased Planting
  • Disciple Making and Church Engagement
  • Methods and Models for Mobilizing Everyday Missionaries
  • Micro Models and Expressions

Big Idea and Overview

In January of 2021, Trellis began with a hub of apostolic leaders in the greater Knoxville area, which is currently working to mobilize an army of local missionaries in order to train, equip, and empower them to plant the gospel in areas and among people that current church models are struggling to reach. We believe that 3 startup hubs are necessary to get the ball rolling.

While the greater Knoxville area is the first, there are 2 other areas that we see as strategic, which are the Tri-cities area in the northeast of TN, and the greater Chattanooga area in the southeast of TN. The Tri-cities hub is already in the process of forming. We eventually want to see a hub in each of the 34 counties of East TN.

Customer / Mission Field Context

We are reaching the “missionary orphans” in East TN, which we see as the army of missionaries that feel as though they are on an island with no tracks to run on, and are craving language, tools, accountability, encouragement, and permission to reach the people that God has put on their hearts. By extension, we want to reach the broken, marginalized, and lost in every pocket of East TN.

Goals and Desired Outcomes

1. Gospel saturation through a disciple making movement (DMM).

2. Rallying dormant missionaries.

3. Hubs that empower missionaries and micro-churches in every county of East TN.

Results and
Impact

We are brand new, but we are already beginning to see local missionaries equipped and empowered, and the beginnings of several micro-churches are forming.
